MEN AT WORK - PTSA MALE INVOLVEMENT COMMITTEE

Kudos to the PTSA Male Involvement Committee. The PTSA Male Involvement goal was to increase male involvement by 10% more than previous year. That goal was achieved. The Male Involvement Committee hosted it first successful Fatherhood/Male Involvement Summit on Saturday, February 19, 2011 from 7:30 am – 9:30 am in an effort to promote an awareness of the importance of father/male involvement in children lives. This was an opportunity for men to dialogue with other fathers and male mentors, discuss research literature, help proffer community solutions to the challenges facing fathers and learn and share best practices on how to increase fatherhood involvement at your child's school. There were several organizations represented at the event which included, Alabama PTA, 100 Black Men of Montgomery, Youth 20/20 of Dothan, Alabama, Empowering Communities Helping Ourselves, Difference Makers Youth Organization and Alabama State University S.I.F.E Organization.

PTSA TAKES ACTION

You're powerful — because you live and vote in your legislator's district. And it's the job of your lawmakers to represent you.

But they can't effectively represent your interests unless you communicate with them around the issues you care about.

Your elected representatives pay close attention to grassroots points of view expressed by their constituents, and take those views into account when the final votes are cast.

That's why YOU, as an informed and active constituent, can play the most important role of all in shaping legislation.

Choose to make a difference by becoming an active participant with others in policymaking.
